Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Time inside a pressurised chamber breathing oxygen-enriched air. HBOT has real contraindications, so this is one of the services where the screening appointment genuinely decides whether you can book at all.

What a session involves

You lie or sit inside the chamber, usually for sixty to ninety minutes. Pressure is raised slowly at the start and lowered slowly at the end. During those two phases you will feel your ears needing to equalise, the way they do on descent in an aircraft; staff talk you through the manoeuvres beforehand and stay in contact throughout. Most of the session is simply sitting still, and people read or sleep.

Screening, and why it is not a formality

An untreated pneumothorax is an absolute contraindication to hyperbaric treatment. Certain chemotherapy agents, some lung conditions, recent ear or sinus surgery, uncontrolled fever and some implanted devices are all reasons we would decline or defer you. Claustrophobia is worth raising early. We screen before we book rather than after you have paid.

Pressure and dose are clinical decisions

Depth and duration are set by a clinician for you, not chosen from a price list, and “more pressure” is not a better product. Sessions are scheduled as a course because that is how the modality is studied and used; single drop-in sessions are not something we sell.

What we will not tell you

HBOT is FDA-cleared for a specific and fairly short list of medical indications. A great deal of what is claimed for it beyond that list is not established. We are not going to tell you what it will do for you, and if you have a condition on the cleared list, that is a conversation to have with your treating physician - we are glad to coordinate with them.

Before you come

No smoking beforehand, tell us about every medication including topicals, and leave lighters, vapes, battery devices and petroleum-based products out of the chamber entirely. The oxygen environment makes that a hard rule, not a preference.

How this fits with your care

Everything at BiomedRx Med Spa is complementary to your regular medical care and never a replacement for it. We do not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease, and we do not promise outcomes. Every service starts with a consultation, and some of them start with a screening that can end in us telling you no. If what you need belongs with your physician or a specialist, we will say so and help you get there.
